Three #Foodtok Trends
Three #foodtok trends worth trying
These are the viral TikTok trends from #foodtok that taste as good as the hype.
TikTok is a popular source of inspiration for foodies who are keen to discover new ways to wow the crowd. So, we’ve waded through the delicious – and at times wacky – waters of #foodtok to bring you the trends worth trying.
- Baked oats
The classic breakfast gets a TikTok makeover that is simple, budget-friendly and turns your usual bowl of oats into a delicious fluffy cake. What makes this a solid favourite amid the other #foodtok trends though is its versatility. Add any flavouring or filling and make one portion or a whole cake tin.
Another win-win is that everything is blended together. For one portion, the general rule is to combine ½ cup oats, 1 banana, 1 egg (or flax egg), ½ tsp Moir’s Baking Powder and a pinch of salt. You can add 1 tbsp of your preferred sweetener too.
Once blended, leave the mixture to stand for 5 minutes before popping it into a ramekin and baking for 20 minutes at 175°C.
- Vintage buttercream cakes
The cakes of yesteryear have made a cult comeback. Think pastel swirls, lace, basketweave and frills, all made with thick, rich buttercream icing. This nostalgic trend is fun to try and an excellent way to grow your skills, especially because the more opulent the cakes are, the trendier they’ll be.

- Fruit-roll ice cream
It’s a little odd-sounding at first, but this low-effort sweet snack is a TikTok sensation worth testing out.
First, choose your favourite Safari Fruit Roll
and lay out a piece about as big as an adult hand. Then choose your favourite ice cream and place a scoop in the centre of your Safari Fruit Roll. Quickly wrap the ice cream with the fruit roll, nice and tight. The ice cream will freeze the Safari Fruit Roll, creating a crunchy, chewy and creamy snack to bite right into!
